LVD Health Center case study at Native Nation Events

Travois recently had the opportunity to sponsor the Native Nation Events (NNE): Eighth Annual Native American Healthcare Conference at Morongo Casino & Resort in Cabazon, CA.

Sadie Valliere, health director for the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, and I presented a case study of the Lac Vieux Desert Health Center. We explained the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program and outlined how the development was successful by partnering with Chickasaw Nation Community Development Endeavor (CNCDE).

The Lac Vieux Desert Health Center creates and retains high-quality jobs. It gives band members access to state-of-the-art medical and dental care while also attracting patients and customers from surrounding communities. The health center also provides a boost to the local economy and much-needed services in the community.

I enjoyed the opportunity to present to the attendees and also the chance to visit an enterprise of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, which employs more than 3,000 people in the Coachella Valley. I hope the presentation sparked ideas and attendees were able to take the NMTC program information back to their communities.

If you have a development on the horizon, get in touch with me.  We can talk about Travois’ nationwide network of partner CDEs and the best way to begin a conversation about the future.
